Batman

Superhero #3.....

Finished this drawing up over the weekend.  The hands and feet were definitely a challenge, and I don't think I got them quite right, but overall I'm fairly pleased with it.  As you can see in the progress pics, I left the drawing of the hand/arm section until the last minute.  I definitely need to practice hands a lot more.

An older sketch....

Sorry, I don't have anything new to post just yet.  Hopefully next week I'll get to show off what I've been working on.  For now, here's a drawing I completed earlier this year:

Hulk

Drawing #1 of my superhero series as promised.....

I completed this drawing earlier this year, and it was full of challenges and lessons for me.  Firstly, I had been hearing a lot about Artists using the grid method (where you draw a grid on the reference photo, and then draw the same number of boxes on your paper, except larger.....it helps you to see where everything goes in relation to each other).  So I decided to try this tried and true method for the first time on this drawing, and (as you can see) like an idiot, I drew the grid in pen! Gah!  It didn't dawn on me until more than halfway through the drawing, that the grid was there permanantly.  Duh!  Anyway, lesson learned.

Also, as you may have noticed, he has no feet.  This is for two reasons.  The first is because well, they didn't show up in the photo I was working from and I didn't search for pictures of Hulk's feet.  And the second is simply because I hate drawing feet!  So lesson number two: don't avoid challenges......it will make your work look incomplete and sloppy!

Overall I enjoyed doing this drawing a lot, as well as the lessons learned.
